How to Register — Current UW Students
Current UW students register for Summer Sessions the same way they register for any other quarter. There's no need to apply — just follow the steps below.
If you're an incoming UW first-year student, however, you will need to apply to Summer Sessions first. See registration steps for non-UW students.
Step One: Find Your Class
Summer Sessions offers more than 1,000 courses to choose from. For help finding the course or courses that are right for you, see the Courses & Programs page or use the Time Schedule Course Catalog view (Net ID required) to see when and where a course is offered. You can also use MyPlan, an academic planning tool, to explore course offerings.
Step Two: Register
- Know when you can register. About two weeks before registration opens, you can find your specific registration date and time on Register.UW. You can also refer to Key Dates & Deadlines.
- Complete pre-registration. Review legal acknowledgements, choose optional charges and confirm your contact information before you can register.
- Once registration opens, use Register.UW to register online for your Summer Sessions courses. Have the SLN or course abbreviation and number handy.
- If you used MyPlan to plan your courses, find out how to import them into Register.UW.
- Be sure to register early — registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Step Three: Pay Tuition & Fees
Once you've registered, visit the Tuition & Fees page for UW Summer Sessions tuition costs. For payment instructions, see the information from Student Fiscal Services. For a full list of tuition deadlines, see the Academic Calendar.
