Meet the Team
Durwin Long, Senior Director
Durwin has provided overall direction for UW Summer Sessions since joining Continuum College in February 2020. He previously served as the executive director of student services at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and as the assistant dean for executive and professional development in the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. He earned his doctorate in higher education in 2007 from the University of Minnesota, where his research focused on the factors affecting adult learners’ persistence and graduation rates in higher education.
Christopher Kemp, Assistant Director
Christopher has worked on UW Summer Sessions at the University of Washington for 10 years. He earned a master's in library and information science from Simmons University, and he's applied those skills to the budgeting, analysis, reporting and operational needs of UW Summer Sessions. Before joining the University of Washington, Christopher held positions at Harvard and MIT.
Sarah Mangold, Assistant Director
Sarah Mangold leads online development for UW Summer Sessions. A member of the Continuum College team since 2008, she's worked with UW campus partners to build a variety of online and classroom courses in both credit and noncredit programs. A NEA poetry fellow, she earned her MFA in creative writing from San Francisco State University and a bachelor’s in English literature from the University of Oklahoma. Before coming to the UW, she worked for a private family library.
Riley Crain, Specialized Program Administrator
Riley is responsible for many of the operational needs of UW Summer Sessions. Riley earned a bachelor's degree in cultural anthropology from the University of California, Davis and has worked in higher education since 2014. Her experience includes admissions, operations, foreign and domestic visa processing, event management and orientation planning. Before coming to the UW, Riley worked as a data specialist for a relocation company hired by Amazon.
